Msgr Serverus Jjumba has been consecrated the new Bishop of Masaka Catholic Diocese.
He replaces John Baptist Kaggwa, who retired in October 2018.
Pope Francis appointed Bishop Jumba on April 16.
The episcopal ordination of the new Bishop was conducted at Kitovu Sports Arena in Masaka municipality.
It was performed by Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa and officiated by Archbishop Luigu Bianco, the Pope Nuncio to Uganda, together with Archbishops of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga; John Baptist Odama of Gulu, Lambert Bainomugisha of Mbarara and Bishop Anthony Zziwa, the Chairperson of the Uganda Episcopal Conference.
Bishop Kaggwa handed over the instruments of power and the historical mace that was used by the late Archbishop Heinrich Streicther to administer the diocese, to Bishop JJumba.
