Makerere University management has started printing transcripts for the January 2019 graduation ahead of the ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe said the early printing of the transcripts is aimed at providing the graduands with their academic documents before they graduate.
He said they have printed the transcripts for the School of Law and will continue for other colleges which have submitted complete results to the Senate.
The four colleges whose transcripts are also going to be printed include Makerere University Business School in Nakawa, College of Natural Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity and College of Computing and Information Science.
He said students from the above colleges can start picking their transcripts after clearing.
“We have so far finished printing transcripts for the School of Law and yet to print for other four colleges that have handed in their complete results already. We shall also commence the ones for other colleges that have not yet handed in their results to senate to ensure that all students who have cleared with the university access their transcripts before the graduation ceremony in January,” Prof Nawangwe said.
The Guild President, Mr Papa Were, welcomed the idea saying that the university should keep their promise unlike in the previous years.
“In the recent council meetings, I urged the vice chancellor and the academic registrar to keep their promise this time round. Same promises were made last year but not fulfilled but it is a great idea and that is what is done in all world class universities,” Mr Were said.
He said that this will give them a chance to compete for the available jobs on the market before they graduate next year.
