A new plot by the key suspects in the fraudulent sale of former seven banks to use opposition Forum for Democratic change politicians to frustrate a probe on the bank of Uganda by the COSASE has been exposed.
According to a source, the suspects Deputy governor Louis Austin Kasekende ,Justine Bagyenda the Ex Executive director supervision bank of Uganda and Dfcu’s Chairman board of directors Jimmy Mugerwa and out going Managing director Juma Kisaame are in bed with Leader of opposition in Parliament Hon Betty Achan and Ibrahim Semujju Nganda to sabotage the inquiry.
A source says the group met at Manyara Serena lodge in Tanzania on December 7th 2018 in a five day meeting where the deal was struck.
It is indicated that after the 5 days meeting, the group accepted to push for a new committee to take over the inquiry and make it die a natural death.
It is further indicated that this was intended to help Dfcu bank officials who are yet to be grilled over former Crane bank controversial take over to escape from appearing before the COSASE committee of Parliament.
It should be remembered that according to Auditor general’s report on closed banks, Dfcu bank acted as both the buyer and a valuer in the sale and acquisition of Crane bank which saw a bank valued at shs 1.3trillion sold at a sweetheart price of shs200bn.
It was against the December 7th Tanzania meeting that top FDC politicians who had been quiet about the probe and the tenure of COSASE probe picked interests after being promised huge sums of money once the the committee killed the probe until the speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga over ruled LoP and extended Katuntu led team to complete the inquiry which they started.
